Finally, the Renault Kwid has a new image. It received the same restyling as made in India in 2020. The front has been completely redesigned, with split headlights and LED daytime running lights on all versions. With this update, the French brand raises the level of Kwid.
The new Kwid with more versions and more secure. Now all versions of the popular model – with the well-known Zen, Intense and Outsider names – now have Electronic Stability Control (ESP) as standard, as well as Hill Start Assist, tire pressure monitoring and Start&Stop system.
With this equipment and given the price, Renault wants to become a competitor in Brazil with models such as Argo, HB20 and Onix. In addition, the new Kwid is ready to compete with the new generation of the Citroën C3 that will arrive in the coming months, which will have a similar design with a straighter and more muscular design.
The entry-level version has LED daytime running lights in the headlights and taillights, it has new rates that are more like diamond wheels. It comes standard with electric steering, air conditioning, Bluetooth radio, four airbags and ABS brakes. Apart from the new features, such as stability control and Start&Stop.
Then the Intense trim gets glossy black painted mirrors and molded LED taillights. For the first time, the Kwid can have two-tone paint and 14-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, both of which are optional. It comes standard with the new 8″ Media Evolution multimedia device with a larger, more responsive screen and connectivity to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Kwid Intense also adds essentials such as electrically adjustable mirrors, switch, reversing camera. It has bars on the roof, protective profiles on the sides and bumpers, in addition to the unprecedented 14″ alloy wheels. Inside, the seats are upholstered in Citron Green fabric.
In terms of motorization, the French brand has made improvements to the 1.0-litre three-cylinder 12-valve engine. With double valve distribution and aluminum block, the engine received a new control unit (ECU) that allows it to deliver 68 CV of power when using gasoline. The transmission is the same manual as before, with five speeds and close ratios giving the sub-compact agility.
When we visited the UFO point in Cariló where Renault exhibits its products, we spoke with Valentina Solaric, Commercial Director of the diamond brand, on the possible return of the Kwid to Argentina, who replied: «The decision to stop bringing the Kwid was temporary, but because of Argentina’s lack of dollars; we are dealing with an import restriction. Our decisions are customer oriented, that is, we will focus on all the import possibilities in Duster, Captur, Oroch and Master«, adding «if this lack of dollars is changed, the door is open for you to return the Kwid steer with the new model that will be renewed in Brazil this year»
