Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Review

The Royal Enfield Meteor 350, for what is by all accounts a relatively small motorcycle, has been causing quite a stir since it was first announced earlier this year.

There seems to be something about this machine’s combination of old world charm, contemporary style and modern technology that captures the imagination of bikers everywhere.

It has now been officially confirmed that the new 2021 Meteor 350 will make the journey across the globe to the UK and Europe.

Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Price UK

The new Meteor will be one of the best value for money classic bikes of 2021. The bikes are expected to arrive at dealers in early 2021, with OTR prices starting at just £3,749. † That includes a three-year unlimited mileage warranty and three years of highway coverage.

meteor 350 engine

For fans of the more classic R+E brand machines, Meteor will be a very exciting model. At its heart is a 349cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air- and oil-cooled engine. It may look, and probably sound, a lot like the Bullet 350 unit, but under the hood, this new engine is brand new. It is a Euro5 compliant unit that produces 20.2 hp at 6,100 rpm and 20 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The gearbox is a five-speed, fifth-speed gearbox with overdrive, while the clutch’s wet-disc element operates via a cable. On top of the single tapper is a 15 liter drop-shaped fuel tank.

Chassis

The frame of the bike is also new, although it has a classic look to typical Royal Enfield fashion! It’s a double-post frame with a down tube that dips down behind the tank to provide an accessible seat height of just 765mm.

The front suspension is provided by 41mm telescopic forks with 130mm travel, obviously non-adjustable, but if you’re looking for adjusters to play with, you’re in the wrong bike segment! The retro-look rear shocks are emulsion elements with six levels of preload adjustment.

The front brake is a single 300mm disc with a floating two-piston caliper with a 270mm disc and a single-piston caliper at the rear. The ABS is two-channel and, as far as we know, is not switchable.

Team

Its debut on the Meteor 350 is the new Turn-By-Turn navigation system located in the motorcycle’s instrument panel. Called the Royal Enfield Tripper, a dedicated navigation screen provides real-time directions to the rider, with two-wheeled Google Maps providing the data.

The Tripper displays the best route to a destination using Google Maps navigation on two wheels, a first for any motorcycle made in India. Once paired with the Royal Enfield app via the driver’s smartphone, the Tripper system provides information about the next turn and the distance to the next turn via marked arrows on the screen.

Meteor 350 Editions

There are three editions of the Meteor 350 available, Fireball, Stellar and Supernova. Each bike uses the same basic specs, with colors and metallic finishes highlighting the different models.

The Fireball is available with a solid red or yellow fuel tank and matching rim liner. It features darkened bike and motorcycle parts, which is finished with machined fins. The Stellar comes with a red, blue or matte black fuel tank and matching body components. It also has a chrome steering wheel and exhaust, plus a passenger backrest. Finished in two-tone blue or brown with matching body panels, the premium Supernova is detailed with machined wheels, a choice of premium seats and a windshield.
