Since its arrival, the Volkswagen Nivus 170 TSI has been a resounding success in sales: the presale units sold out within hours, and when it was officially launched, it quickly climbed the ranks, surpassing even its older sister, the T-Cross. To further strengthen its position in the market, Volkswagen has just introduced a new entry-level version, the 170 TSI.
This variant was planned months ago and is particularly notable for retaining the 1.0 TSI engine but with a different power and torque configuration, in addition to the clutch with a manual gearbox.
In this regard, Martín Massimino, Commercial Director of the Volkswagen Argentina Group stated: “Since its launch, Nivus has enjoyed great acceptance in the Argentinean market. Not only do customers choose it – it was the best-selling SUV in March – but it was also recognized by the press as the “best regional SUV” (Motorpress 2020 awards). Absolutely, Nivus has already become a benchmark in the segment.”
Thomas Owsianski, President and CEO of the Volkswagen Argentina Group, emphasized: “Nivus has been a success since the pre-sale and aroused great interest from the first moment. Developed entirely in South America, the great performance has prompted us to further expand the range to offer versions that adapt to the needs of all our customers.”
Volkswagen Nivus 170 TSI’s Main Features:
It is the long-awaited new entry-level version of the Nivus, which the management of Volkswagen Argentina had anticipated a few months ago exclusively for 16 Valves and had even been photographed in Brazil.
Positioned below the Comfortline, it retains much of the comfort and above all safety equipment. The main difference is in the engine: instead of the 116 hp and 200 Nm of the rest of the range, the 1.0 TSI engine for this variant delivers 95 hp and 165 Nm, and is also the only option with a manual gearbox.
The 170 TSI version has black roof racks, full LED headlights, 16″ alloy wheels, repeaters in mirrors, air conditioning, driver’s seat with manual adjustment, cloth upholstery, Composition Touch multimedia system with screen 6.5″ touchscreen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electric assisted steering, power mirrors and power windows, cruise control, rear parking sensors, height and depth adjustable multifunction steering wheel and Leaving Home system.
Like the rest of the range, it has six airbags (front, side and curtain), brakes with ABS/EBD/BA, stability control (ESP), Hill Start Assist and Isofix anchors.
It is the main novelty of this version: although it retains the 1.0 TSI (turbo) 3-cylinder petrol engine, in this case it has a configuration of 95 hp and 165 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox (produced in the factory in Córdoba), the only manual option in the range.
Crystal White, Universal Black, Sirius Silver and Platinum Grey.
